The environment in Venezuela affects its people in a few ways. There are many natural resources in Venezuela, such as, coal, oil and gold. These resources create job opportunities for the people of Venezuela. An example of this, is coal mining. There are also many national parks in Venezuela. There are about 43 national parks, that preserve certain areas of land from industrialization and civilization. The national parks have a diverse amount of animals as well. They provide people with a place to recreate and enjoy the outdoors. Lastly, Venezuela is known as one of the most fishing diverse countries in South America. There are approximately 1711 species of fish. This creates a large fishing industry.  Many people earn their living off of being fishermen.

The people of Venezuela have affected their environment in several ways. The biggest problem in Venezuela is that the people are not environmentally conscious. In Venezuela there is a big problem with the people wasting water. Even though, there is a lot of water in Venezuela, people are not conserving it. On an average day, one person uses about 400 liters of water. That is about 106 gallons per day! Another problem in Venezuela is waste/pollution. There are less than 10 waste treatment facilities throughout the country. Most of the waste is dumped into open pits. When it rains, this can cause runoff of the waste into the rivers and lakes. This, in turn, affects people’s health and the quality of their water.
