North Korea is located on the Korean peninsula which is located between the yellow sea and the sea of japan and comes off of Northeast China. North Korea is in between China at its north and South Korea to the south. Its different from other countries in the region in many ways. For one people in North Korea have minimal interaction with the outside world.  North Korea tried at one point to be self reliant but failed and now heavily relies on China for help. It has only 24 million people, one of the smallest populations in the area when compared to China or South Korea which are North Korea’s neighbors. Its fits into the region in that it has large plains but also high mountains. It also, like most countries in the region, is communistic. Its absolute location is 40.3° N, 127.5° E.  North Korea itself isn’t very large and is about 46,541 mi² or the size of Pennsylvania.
