Ukraine has changed the environment in many ways but the biggest was the Chernobyl Disaster. An explosion at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant released lots of radioactivity into the atmosphere and the area around the plant has never been the same. Its been almost 35 years since the incident and people still cant live there, the water isn’t safe to drink and you cant grow anything on the land. Those who still choose to live there have several effects including birth defects, these radioactive effects are also present in animals in the area.

One way the environment has affected the people was from a huge mudslide in Ukraine. It started when a dam failed when Ukraine was hit with heavy wind and rain. The slide hit a huge residential area and many houses and businesses where directly damaged. The lack of fish in the Black Sea has also caused problems as many people living on the coast rely on fishing for business and food.
