Iceland is 0-30 deg. W and  0-60 N.

Similarities to rest of Europe:

It is similar to the rest of the region in being Christian. Also like much of Europe, many people there know and speak English, even though it is not the official language. Iceland also very peaceful and shares its anti-war attributes. Iceland shares much in common with the rest of Scandinavia in its race (I am talking more than just skin color). Iceland was settled 1000 years ago by Nordic people (they were also vikings) and there is still a close resemblance today.

Differences from the rest of the region:

Population wise, it is one of the smallest countries in Europe. It also has the the lowest population density in Europe. It stands unique to much of Europe and much of the world in taking many environmental precautions, using clean energy sources, and putting strict limits on the number of resources allowed to be taken advantage of.

Iceland has stayed neutral in both World Wars, where most of Europe was involved.
