The relative location: Sri Lanka is located in the Middle East, a region of Southwestern Asia, in both the Eastern and Northern Hemispheres of the world. Sri Lanka is on the far southern edge of the Indian subcontinent in south-central Asia. There is no land connection however. It is bordered on the East by the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal, on the West the Gulf of Mannar. Sri Lanka covers 64,630 square kilometers of land and 980 square kilometers of water-total area is 65,610 square kilometers.

Sri Lanka is similar to other countries in the Middle East because of its location in the Southeastern Asia. It’s semi-arid and Mediterranean climate is similar to some parts of India. Most have tropical monsoons in the north which normally occur in December-March and tropical monsoons in the south which normally occur in June-October. It is also similar to other countries in this region of the world because it’s main religion is Buddhism, but there is also a large minority of Hinduism. Sri Lanka’s terrain is also similar to other countries in the area with low, flat to rolling plains with mountains and deserts.

What the Weather is like with monsoons in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is different to other countries in the Middle East. Sinhala, Tamil, and English are the main languages. Also, Sri Lanka is an Island Nation. As far as meals go, Sri Lankan’s normally have a large serving of the main entree accompanied by up to twelve different side dishes. (They eat a lot) There main meal of the day is normally dinner, which is unlike most of the South Asian countries because there main meal of the day is lunch.
