India is one of many countries in South Asia. India is the birthplace of the worlds 4 major religions which are Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. India’s most popular religions are Hinduism and Islam. Festivals are very popular in India. When festivals are held throughout the year it is always a unique way of experiencing India’s culture at its best. One of India’s festivals is Diwali. Diwali is a five day festival that celebrates and honors the victory of good over evil, and brightness over darkness.

There are many different languages that are spoke in India. The 2 major languages in India are the Indo-Aryan languages and the Dravidian languages.  The Indo-Aryan languages are spoken by 75% of Indians.  The Dravidian languages are spoken by 20% of Indians. There are a variety of interesting and famous landmarks in India. The most famous landmark in India is the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal was built in 1632 by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his favorite. Over 200,000 tourists from overseas and as many as 2 to 4 million people visit the Taj Mahal every year. The Taj Mahal is a world heritage site and is also one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
