Goods: Turkey’s main exports are machinery, transport material, manufactured goods, gems and precious metals, cotton clothing and plastics. It mainly exports to the European Union, Iraq, the United States, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, and Iran. Turkey’s main imports are machinery, mineral fuels (oil), electronic equipment, vehicles, iron and steel. Turkey imports mainly from the European Union, China, Russia, the United States, South Korea, and Iran. Goods are transported to and from Turkey mostly by ship and sea.
People: People in Turkey move by car, plane, ship, boat, bus and walking. Turkey has provided shelter to more than 34 million refugees, mostly from Syria (90%), the biggest refugee population in the world. Traditionally, Turkey was a country of emigration. In the 1960’s, people wanted to leave the country in search of better jobs and to learn trades in Western Europe. Then, the economic downturn in Europe caused many Turkish people to move to other countries or return home.
Ideas: 50% of Turkey’s population is under the age of 30. This has made Turkey a place where technology and social media are popular and keep advancing. Turkey is known as a leader in technology. There are 30 million Facebook users.

Interesting. In Israel, the country that I was assigned, gems and precious metals make up a lot of it’s trade as well, totaling 24% of it’s exports. I guess jewelry trading is very common in the region.
